Army
Family Team Building
AFTB is about mission and
Family
readiness.
AFTB is helping
empower Army Families through personal and Family preparedness
training, which enhances overall Army readiness. AFTB helps
Families adapt to Army life by providing information about the
resources available to Soldiers and Army Family members.

Workshops
are held on a regular ongoing basis at the Army Community
Service building in the Pine Plains Complex.
Child care is provided for all workshops,
children must be registered with CYS Services Central Enrollment
Registry.
Please register at least one week prior to the class date;
however, last-minute reservations may be available.
Call AFTB at (315) 772-6710 for information and reservations.

Course is targeted toward Family members new to the Army or
anyone interested in updating personal or basic knowledge of the
military. Subjects included are military terms, acronyms,
customs, courtesies, Chain of Command, Chain of Concern,
introduction to military and civilian resources. Learning how to
read the LES (leave and earnings statement), introduction to the
Army Family Action Plan and Operation READY. Benefits,
entitlements and compensation, expectations, the impact of the
mission on Family life, and basic problem solving.

Course will cover topics such as Family Readiness Groups and the
Deployment Cycle, Communication, Personal Time Management,
Acknowledging Change, The Volunteer Experience, Crisis, Coping
and Grieving, Stress Management, Team Dynamics, Personality
Traits, Enhancing Personal Relationships, Traditions, Customs,
Courtesies and Protocol, Creative Problem Solving, Personal
Conflict Management and Introduction to Leadership.

Course is for emerging leaders within the Army community. Course
topics include Listening Skills, Motivating Factors, Building
Self-Esteem, Personality Traits, Building a Cohesive Team, Group
Conflict Management, Leader Roles, Leadership Skills,
Understanding the organization of the Army, Political Issues and
the Army, How to Develop Presentations, How to Plan and Conduct
a Workshop, and Problem Solving Techniques for Leaders.
Gain extensive training on how to be an effective workshop
presenter with the AFTB curriculum. This is your chance to
develop your teaching skills, gain marketable job experience
through volunteering and making new friends all at the same
time! Come and join a great team of AFTB volunteers and seize
the opportunity to contribute a valuable asset to your Fort Drum
Community. Suggested pre-requisite: All three levels of AFTB
courses.
