The Arts and Crafts Center
The Arts
and Crafts Center offers a wide variety of
classes, studios and equipment for both amateur and experienced
crafters. The center boasts a large woodshop containing large
and small woodworking tools, a Ceramics and Sculpture shop
offering more than 3,000 molds, a stained glass studio, and a
self-frame shop.
In addition to the studios, the facility has a
large conference/ classroom where classes such as watercolor and tole painting,
sewing and quilting, rubber stamping, and digital photography are
offered. Qualification classes are regularly scheduled for each
of the studios.
Additionally, the facility offers a retail store with crafting
supplies, a retail Craft Cabin (consignment shop) where crafters
may sell their work, and Wayseekers Studio, a retail framing shop
and studio with original artwork for sale.

There is a large variety of high-quality handmade crafts for
sale, at all price levels. Crafts are sold on a consignment
basis, with a percentage of each item sold benefiting the
Morale, Welfare and Recreation Fund. In order to consign, you
must have a valid ID card (military or civilian) and may not
duplicate a craft already in stock. Stop by and check out the
handmade items , by local artisans, for sale. For more

The retail store carries a large
variety of fine art and craft supplies. For customer convenience
the retail store carries all the supplies needed to participate
in most of the classes offered at Arts & Crafts.


Woodworking Safety & Orientation
This one session class is required to use the woodshop.
Participants will learn the proper use of all equipment in the
production room.
Ceramics
Qualification
Learn the steps and techniques of ceramic mold pouring. Also
covered are the steps of cleaning greenware and the types and
uses of the different paints used in this art form. Mold
qualification is required prior to using the Ceramics Shop.
Pottery wheels, slab roller and extruder are available for use
in this area.
Basic Sewing
Learn the basics of reading a pattern, cutting fabric, machine
sewing, and determining pattern size by measuring your body. This is
a 3-session class. Pattern is provided in the class fee, fabric and notions
that need to be purchased will be provided in a
list at the end of the first class.
Basic Stained Glass
In this one session class you will learn the basic skills of
cutting glass, tinning, soldering, and the proper use of the tools used in
this art form.
Framing
Learn to single cut mats and make your own frames in this 2-session
class. Participants will learn to cut frame molding, glass, and
mats using specialized tools. Instruction fee does not include
supplies.
Painting
Classes are offered in different types of painting techniques
throughout the year. Tole, Watercolor, pen and ink, and ceramic
are but a few of the various techniques offered.
Pottery
Learn how
to use the potter’s wheel, as well as slab & coil potting
techniques. Your choice of red or white clay is included in the
class fee.
Sewing
and Quilting
A different quilt project is offered one Saturday each month.
Participants receive a list of materials and basic cutting
instruction upon registering. Start at 10 am on the class day
to machine piece the quilt top. Take a short break for
lunch (bring a bag lunch), then pin, baste, and sew up the
binding on the quilt by 5 pm. Pre-registration and payment is
required for this class.
The Before You Begin quilting class is
offered to anyone wanting to learn the basics about quilting.
There are also fabric store trips planned regularly and
workshops.

Portraits in a Box is an inexpensive
way to get Family portraits done in a studio setting. We have
the lights, your camera or ours, the backdrop with a few props
for your use. The user fee is $15 including disc of pictures,
then have pictures printed at any photo developing center. Call
to book an appointment now.

Studios are open for use on a walk-in
basis with no charge to RecTrac! Card holders. Patrons without
RecTrac! Cards are charged a $1 per hour or $4 per day.
Qualification classes are required in woodworking, framing,
stained glass and ceramics in order to use these studios. Staff
is available to help out once you have been certified.
Due to safety regulations no children under the age of 12 are
allowed to sign up for classes. To work in the woodshop children
must be 16 years of age and accompanied by a parent or guardian
at all times.

Wayseekers Studios is a professional
framing shop with a large variety of matting and frame stock to
choose from. You'll also find a fine arts gallery with original
paintings and drawings from local artists on sale. For more
